The first day of Summer, the longest day of the year, was cold and rainy.

The first weekend of Summer was very pleasant, nice and in the upper 70s.

I used to be skinny

In this one I post embarrassing pictures of myself. So you have that to look forward to. I used to be skinny. Looking back at old pictures of me from only years ago I am so skinny and young. Exhibit 1: Circa spring 2005 160 lbs I then got fat. Exhibit 2: Spring 2012 212 lbs I have to admit the second photo was staged for maximum guttness. I'd never wear that shirt out in public and the camera angle is just right. So how did I get fat. Simple story really. I grew older, and slower, and ate too much horrible food. Over a four year period I gained fifty pounds. At one point a couple of years ago I became determined to lose the weight and get in shape. So I began working out fairly regularly. I did not as it were change my eating habits. After a workout I would convince myself it was ok to eat a tub of wings because I had just burned so many calories. TWTW December 6th through the 16th: I Say Weird Things To A Man In A Hood

It was much more seasonable temperatures this week, highs in the 40s with cold nights. I was walking home one night. It was chilly but not freezing cold. My apartment complex has a space in the center. It has a grill, a fire pit, some speakers, and a fire pit. People use it for parties. It also has a bad wifi internet connection for streaming music. As I walked by I laughed to myself. I had imagined some poor guy out there with a hood and a laptop. I looked back and it was a guy in a hood huddled over the glow of a laptop screen. For some reason, this really confused and intrigued me. I waked up to him and asked him what he was doing with this exact wording. "What are you doing? And why are you doing this thing you are doing?" He had just moved in and the internet wasn't turned on in his apartment yet. He worked in IT and needed to login to work to fix something that was broken. Why wasn't he using his phone? I didn't ask. I told him good luck and went inside.

With the daunting prospect of another midwestern winter before us, a friend and I decided to book a trip somewhere warm during the depth of winter. Boy were we prescient. Unless you have been living in a cave in the southern hemisphere, you know this winter was brutal in North America. The only criteria I had in planning the get away was that it be warm and all inclusive. All inclusive isn't usually y sort of thing. Heck I landed at Heathrow in 2012 with no idea how to get to my hotel. My friend had the perfect idea: a cruise. We would be warm, well fed, and able to relax. We decided on a seven night cruise on the eastern Caribbean aboard the Celebrity Reflection. I had never been on a cruise before so I didn't know what to expect.
